Which technology to choose for your budget
The three technologies cover different needs. If in doubt, start with FDM: it's the most economical and solves most projects.
FDM
The workhorse: prototypes, housings, brackets and everyday functional parts. The widest range of materials and colours at the best price.
- PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and technical materials
- Accuracy ±0.10-0.30 mm per 100 mm
- Delivery from 1 business day
SLA (resin)
Maximum level of detail and the best surface finish. The choice for miniatures, jewellery, fine scale models and aesthetic prototypes.
- Standard resin in white
- Smooth surface, invisible layers
- Solid parts (100% infill)
SLS (nylon PA12)
Strong functional parts and short runs without supports: the closest quality to injection moulding, ideal for end use.
- PA12 in grey or black + any RAL
- High mechanical and chemical resistance
- Delivery from 3 business days

| Part type | PLA (FDM) | PETG (FDM) | Resin (SLA) | PA12 (SLS) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small part — keychain, trim piece (~5 cm³) | 2,24 € | 2,24 € | 4,12 € | 4,50 € |
| Medium part — housing, bracket (~25 cm³) | 3,72 € | 4,75 € | 12,05 € | ≈ 12 € |
| Large part — fixture, functional (~100 cm³) | 14,87 € | 19,00 € | 48,20 € | ≈ 47 € |
In SLS the price also depends on the space the part takes up in the machine, so these figures are indicative. For your exact part, the calculator analyses your file and gives you the final price in seconds.

Real example: a 25 cm³ housing in PLA goes from €3.72/unit on its own to €2.42/unit at 100 units and €1.86/unit at 500. Special FDM materials (ESD, wood) follow the resin scale.

How to reduce the cost of your 3D print
- Use the standard 20% infill
It works for most parts; printing at 100% makes the part around 35% more expensive.
- Choose a rough finish if aesthetics don't matter
It makes the part around 20% cheaper; a fine finish adds about the same.
- Group parts into a single order
In FDM the discount starts at −15% with 5 units and reaches −50% at 500.
- Start with PLA
It's the most economical material; save the technical ones (ASA, carbon fibre, ESD) for when the application demands it.
- Optimise the design
Less volume means a lower price: hollow out interiors and adjust wall thickness where the part doesn't need stiffness.
